Steve’s Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Adventures Page

The highly anticipated Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 launched on August 18th, 2020, and it’s simply breathtaking, but also riddled with bugs. I’ve been having a lot of fun touring, and also re-learning how to fly and use modern avionics.

UPDATE: I’ve largely given up on FS2020 due to being horrendously buggy and virtually unplayable, at least for me, and have gone back to X-Plane 11. FS2020 looks fantastic, but some of the bugs are simply inexcusable. Like the “look left” command also puts you into an aileron roll, despite no control binding as such, and leading to crashing your aircraft when you don’t realize what’s happening! There’s also keyboard lockups that prevent you from adjusting any 3D cockpit control or keyboard command, which has never been resolved. It’s just ridiculous, and has actually gotten worse for me since launch. It’s not my hardware, either. I have a newish i7-9700K machine with 32GB RAM, and an RTX 2080 Super with 8GB VRAM. Have tried different keyboards, controls, drivers, joystick or none, etc. and none of that has mattered. I’ll try loading it up again this Fall 2021, but for now it’s a tremendously disappointing waste of time. I’ve never been able to fly more than 15 minutes without a sim spoiling or ending bug.
